Number of available places
In the upcoming admission period of the Master`s degree in Sustainability Science and Technologies, there are 40 places available.
General admission requirements
- In accordance with Royal Decree 822/2021, to access official university master's degree studies it is necessary to be in possession of an official Spanish bachelor's degree, or to have another university master's degree or qualifications of equal level to the Spanish bachelor's or master's degree issued by universities or higher education institutions of a country of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) that authorizes access to master's studies in the country issuing the degree.
- Being in possession of a degree issued by a university in a country not belonging to the EHEA, which must not be homologated. The UPC will check beforehand that these studies correspond to a level of training equivalent to official Spanish university degrees and that they enable access to master's studies in the issuing country. Access through this route does not imply, in any case, the homologation of the previous degree or its recognition for any other purpose than that of studying the master's degree. The master's degree obtained will have full official validity.
- Also may access master degrees studies UPC undergraduate students who, despite not having obtained the bachelor's degree, have pending the TFG and, at most, up to 9 ECTS (including credits pending recognition or transfer) or who have completed their studies, but are waiting to achieve, if possible, transversal competence in a third language.
In the case of access to the master's degree with pending ECTS degree credits, the center responsible for the degree can define additional conditions on the pending credits to be take, or not allow access through this route.
Under no circumstances will students who access this route be able to obtain a master's degree if they have not previously obtained a bachelor's degree. -
As for students who have an official university degree obtained in accordance with the study plans in accordance with the first additional provision of RD 822/2021, they can access a university master's degree if they meet the following requirements:
- To have an official title of architect, graduate or engineer.
- To have an official university diploma, or university title of technical architect or technical engineer.
Specific admission requirements
- Degrees that grant access to the master's degree
Students can get access to the Master's degree in Sustainability Science and Technologies, if they hold one of the following academic degrees:
- Bachelor degree in any engineering field.
- Bachelor degree in the field of architecture or construction.
- Bachelor degree in natural science or mathematics.
- Master degree in any engineering field.
- Master degree in architecture.
- Master degree in natural science.
- Higher engineering (pre EEES).
- Architecture (pre EEES).
- Degree (pre EEES) in the field of natural science and mathematics.
- Technical engineering (pre EEES).
- Technical architecture (pre EEES).
- Bachelor or Master degree in any field of social science, economics and geography*.
- Certificate of English proficiency at B2 level
Given that some courses are taught in English, we merit a certificate of English proficiency higher than B2, in accordance with recognition requirements of languages at UPC. Please check the certificates valid at UPC.
* Students holding a degree in any field of social science, economics or geography must undergo complementary training, which will be defined personally by those responsible for the master, after a review of the applicant's academic records and a personal interview.
This complementary training will not be necessary for students holding a Bachelor's or Master's degree in fields of engineering, architecture, construction or natural science and mathematics, nor for applicants holding a degree (pre EEES) in fields of engineering, architecture or natural science and mathematics.
WARNING
Students holding more than one degree, have to select one for their application. The selected degree will be included in the assessment of the application, regarding the selection criteria.
Evaluation and selection criteria for the admission
The academic commission will prioritize applicants, by means of a score for each candidate (from 0 to 14), calculated according to the following criteria (for more information check this link):
Degree of access
- Academic record (de 0 a 7.0)
- University of origin (de 0 a 1.5)
- Other university degrees (de 0 a 0.5)
- Advanced English proficiency (>B2) and other languages different from the official language/s spoken in the home country (de 0 a 1.0)
Experience and motivation
- Professional experience (via CV) (de 0 a 1.0)
- Personal future perspective (via letter of motivation) (de 0 a 1.0)
- Scientific publications (via CV) (de 0 a 1.0)
- External letters of recommendation (de 0 a 1.0)
Number of available places
The number of available places for the double degree combining the MCTS and the MISMeC is of 10.
Duration
The total length of the double degree combining the MCTS and the MISMeC is of 2 academic years and 150 ECTS.
General admission requirements
The general admission criteria are those valid for each of the masters individually:
- Assessment and selection criteria for the Master's Degree in Sustainability Science and Technology
- Selection criteria for the Master's Degree in Sustainable Intervention in the Built Environment
The corresponding academic commissions will have to evaluate the applications within the same enrolment period.
In case that the number of applications exceeds the number of offered places, admission will be given by means of the grade given in the academic record of the applicant.

Pre-enrolment procedure
The user name must be a valid email address as it will be used to send you the password necessary to access the application.

The payment should be charged with VISA or MASTERCARD, through the on-line application: in section Application > Application data click on the Payment button. Once charged, you will obtain the corresponding receipt.
In 24-48 hours the application will be automatically sent and its state will change to Sent.
The admission application, once the enrolment fee is paid, can show one of the following states:
Not validated
The candidate has not jet completed the application before the deadline established for the payment of the enrolment fee.
The application is then evaluated within the next resolution period, which are stated by the deadlines for enrolment fee payment, as long as all the required data and documents are provided. Should the application be incomplete by the last day of the pre-enrolment period, it will not enter the selection phase.
Past due
The application started before the pre-enrolment due date but the enrolment fee is paid past due.
The application does not enter the selection phase.
Validated
The application is complete and the enrolment fee has been paid in due time.
The application is validated and sent to the Master's Degree Academic Commission for its evaluation.
Procedure for admitted students to obtain a place in the master's degree program
Pre-enrolment for the 2024-2025 academic year
Pre-enrolment period, for the Master's degree and the double degree, for students starting on the first semester of the 2024-2025 academic year (September 2024):
Període ordinari
The ordinary period starts in January 16th 2023 and ends in July 3rd 2023. The due dates to complete the application and pay the enrolment fees fall into one of the following selection periods (for instance, applications completed before March 28th 2023 will be included in the 1st selection period):
- 1st selection period: March 28th 2024
- 2nd selection period: May 8th 2024
- 3rd selection period: May 22nd 2024
- 4th selection period: June 5th 2024
- 5th selection period: June 19th 2024
- 6th selection period: July 1st 2024
Students will be notified by email within the 15 days further to the due date (for more information please click on the "Pre-enrolment" tab).
The final official results will be published on the "Admissions" tab in July 19th 2024.
Extraordinary period
The extraordinary period starts in September 1st 2024 and ends in September 4th 2024.
The results of the selection and their publication will be available in September 13th 2024.
MASTER'S DEGREE IN SUSTAINABILITY SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
Required documents
Students from UPC centers
- Curriculum vitae (free format, preferably standardized Europass).
In case that the candidate passed a program in knowledge fields related to the university master that he or she wants to apply for and that is different to the one that is supposed to give access, accreditation documentation has to be presented.
Students from UPC associated centers or from any university of Spain
- Copy of DNI, NIE or Passport
- Curriculum vitae (free format, preferably standardized Europass).
- University degree that qualifies for admission to the master or a provisional degree certificate.
- Official certificate of the academic record with all the subjects passed, the achieved grades, the number of credits/hour and a global average.
Students from foreign universities of higher education
- Copy of DNI, NIE or Passport.
- Curriculum vitae (free format, preferably standardized Europass).
- University degree that qualifies for admission to the master or provisional degree certificate. If the degree is accredited by the Spanish Ministry of Education, the corresponding credential of accreditation has to be added. If the degree is not accredited, a document released by the university where the degree was obtained, or by a responsible authority of the country, has to be added. The document has to state that the degree has a standard period of study of at least three years and qualifies for postgraduate studies (Masters) in the country of origin.
- Official academic certificate released by the university, with all subjects passed, the achieved grades, the number of credits/hour, the global average and information about the applied grading system (grading scale and minimum grade of approval).
- Equivalence statement of the final grade average of the bachelor's degree that gives access to the master. Only for studies in non-Spanish universities. This document must be requested through the electronic site of the Spanish Ministry of Universities. Check here for instructions.

Double Degree (MCTS - MISMeC)
Required documents

- Motivation letter especific to enrol in the double degree (aproximately one DIN A4 in length)
