The University Research Institute for Science and Sustainability Technologies, which organizes the MCTS, also collaborates with universities from other countries to offer short-term programs aimed at providing new skills and knowledge to future change agents.
Erasmus+ BIP (Blended Intensive Programme)
International Summer School: Transdisciplinary Methods for Addressing Sustainability and Land Use Conflicts
What: This course will provide you with the skills to design and implement transdisciplinary (td) research projects, engage stakeholders, and address sustainability challenges such as land use conflicts. You will gain experience in participatory scenario planning, governance approaches, creative co-creation tools, and methods for reflecting on and evaluating the impact of transdisciplinary research, while practicing these skills on real-life rural cases.
When: May-June
Where: Brandenburg, Germany (near Berlin) or Alt Empordà (Northern Catalonia)
Why: Gain experience applicable to your thesis and career through the use of td and creative methods for impactful research with society and earn 3 ECTS credits.
This program builds on the success of previous Summer Schools organized by TU Berlin and ISST-UPC, now enriched by partners such as KTH and UPV.

What: Immerse yourself in hands-on circular economy projects, working alongside international students and faculty to develop innovative solutions. This practical program will help you understand and apply circular economy principles to real-world challenges.
When: June and July
Where: University of Porto, Portugal.
Why: Strengthen your experience, contribute to global sustainability efforts, and earn 3 ECTS credits.
This program builds on previous successful BIP editions organized by the University of Porto and ISST-UPC.
